About Me

Creating A Solid Medical Plan For quite some time, I wasn't sure what I was going to do about my failing health. I knew that I had a few longterm health problems, but resolving the issues felt really difficult. Fortunately, a friend of mine mentioned going to the doctor, so I began looking for medical alternatives. I began working with one doctor who suggested a course of medications and a few lifestyle changes, and I was really enthusiastic about the progress I was making. I know that making health and medical changes helped the quality of my life, and I know it could help you too. Check out this blog for more information.

3 Things You Can Do To Handle Your Lower Back Pain

Chronic back pain causes thousands of missed work days a year. If you have problems with pain in your lower back, there are things that you can do that can help reduce your pain.

Brace

One thing that you can do is to use a brace that you can wear. There are a variety of brace styles that you can use. The goal of the brace is to give you extra support in your lower back, which can help relieve pain and can help you be able to do the things that you need to do easier. If you don't want to let anyone know that you are wearing a lower back brace, there are styles that you can wear under your clothes. However, you may want to wear a snug undershirt or tank top under the brace to help absorb any sweat.

Back Pain Clinic

Another thing that you can try is to visit a chronic back pain clinic. The medical staff there will understand the causes of lower back pain and can help pinpoint exactly what is going on with your back. All you may know is that it hurts, but you haven't been able to figure out exactly what is going on with your back so that you can treat it or alleviate the problem. The doctors at the clinic may suggest that you get some imaging done, such as MRIs or X-rays, so that they can see exactly what's going on with your back. Knowing what's happening in your back will help the doctors and medical staff come up with an appropriate treatment plan. That plan could involve something like physical therapy, which can be a service that the clinic provides.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy can help correct your posture so that you aren't putting as much weight on your back, figure out non-painful ways to move, and even give you therapeutic massages that can help relieve any pain and muscle spasms in your back, especially after you have had a physical therapy session. Physical therapy may cause you to hurt a little bit more in the beginning, but after a couple of days of doing the new exercises and such, that pain will fade, and the pain you've been dealing with should start to fade as well. It won't be an immediate thing, but with a few appointments, you should feel better.
